Serena Lee is a textile artist, photographer, and independent scholar who has spent over five years in remote areas of Asia beginning in 1973. An international lecturer, she has presented her research on the ethnic minorities in northern Vietnam and southwest China at Stanford University, the 16th Congress of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, de Young Museum, World Eco-Fiber Textile Forum, UC Davis, and the Association for Asian Studies Conference. She is an advisor to the board of the Textile Arts Council, a support group of the de Young Museum and a member of the Humanities Advisory Council of the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

Textile Odyssey Tours

Founded in 2000, Textile Odyssey Tours seeks to bridge cultures through the universal interest in textiles. Textile Odyssey Tours take participants to remote cultures around the world where artisans continue ancient textile techniques. While viewing demonstrations of these textile processes by local artisans in their villages and towns, we also have the rare opportunity to see other ancient ways of living that have disappeared from most of the modern world.  It is the goal of Textile Odyssey Tours to forge awareness, understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity that still exists in the world today while providing the traveler with a fascinating and unforgettable experience.
